If you feel like a new start or just a clean up, try my raw alkalizing detox for one day! Or for a few days. No hunger, easy and convenient. With or without a juicer doable.
Ripe seasonal fruits are delicious and easy on the digestion, this makes them a great detox food. The nice thing about this detox is that you are not hungry because you can enjoy as much fruit as you care for. I am adding in greens and veggies for extra nutrients and for that salty taste I tend to crave after a fruity day. Also a little bit of fat like a half of an avocado to aid in the absorption of the nutrients from the greens.
First thing after waking up always I always have a big glass of water, at least 500 ml, usually more, usually with lemon juice. Eating fruit is the easiest way to start the day, during winter I love clementines and oranges, nice and juicy.

If I feel like juicing I always make green juices with my Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer which I have been using now for about three years now. I love it because it has a really wide opening so all the greens, lemon, ginger go in quick and easy.
This funky conjunction below is made of red chard, celery, cucumber, basil, tomato, lemon and ginger, YUM! The most beautiful thing happens every time I use red chard, after about 15 minutes it starts to look like this! Just shake before drinking. If you don’t have a juicer you can or blend all of it with some water and strain the pulp out or make it into a salad. Or make a salad from fruit and raw mild greens, like this Spinach Salad with Mango Dressing.
Red Chard Detox Juice
Ingredients for approx. 32 ounces / 1 liter
- a handful of ( red ) chard
- 3 stalks of celery
- 1 english cucumber
- a small handful of fresh basil or another fresh herb like parsley or cilantro
- 2 tomatoes
- 1/2 lemon, peeled
- an inch of ginger
My latest smoothie turned out to be a bit addictive! Smoothies are great because it is easy to add a lot of greens or green powders to them. If you don’t have a blender or feel like a smoothie just eat the fruit as is.
My Berry Green Smooth Smoothie can be a snack or lunch. You can use any fruit but I love to add berries for their special antioxidant powers.
Raw Alkalizing Soup
To keep it light today until dinner, my late lunch is a raw alkalizing detox soup,
- 2 celery sticks, chopped
- 1 zucchini, chopped
- handful fresh parsley
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1/2 of an avocado
- 1 to 2 cups of water
Just blend, great stuff and so fast.
Two hours later I really craved this red beet juice made of red beets, cucumber, celery, lemon and apple. Great for the kidney’s, an important detoxing organ.

Before dinner snack were a few persimmons. Dinner was a big bowl of raw spiralized zucchini pasta with a pesto sauce.
The ingredients for two portions are,
- 1 cup fresh basil
- 1 Tbsp. nutritional yeast
- 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- 1 date, pitted
- 1 Tbsp. pine nuts
- 4 sun dried tomatoes, soaked
- 6 cherry tomatoes
- 2 Tbsp. green olives, rinsed
- pink salt and pepper to taste
- 2 small or 1 big zucchini
With a spiralizer I made the spaghetti. All the ingredients for the pesto went in the food processor, mine was not completely processed until fine, it had a little bite to it. Then just mix and enjoy with a green salad on the side.
Later, I enjoyed a cup of herbal tea.
Detoxing doesn’t always have to be so invasive or hard, sometimes it is enough to concentrate on pure wholefoods and let the body do it’s work. Foods that are loaded with nutrients and easy to digest leave room to let the body clean itself from the inside.
