Love porridge! This time I made a lazy Quinoa Porridge in my slow cooker. This recipe can also be cooked on a stove. I love my CrockPot cause I can set the time when it starts to cook and that we have warm porridge when we wake up.
A raw version could be my Overnight Oats with lots of goodies, below or my Bircher Muesli.
Quinoa PorridgePrint This
- 1 cup of nondairy milk of your choice, I used almond
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of well rinsed soaked quinoa
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. vanilla powder or essence
- 1 Tbsp. ground flax
- cacao nibs and chopped almonds or walnuts
Add all ingredients except flax, chopped nuts and cacao nibs to your slowcooker or to a pan on the stove. Stir and set on low for 2 hours. My CrockPot works on 70 to 80 degrees Celcius on low, that is about 158 / 176 Fahrenheit. The food is cooked slowly on a low temperature which leaves lots of the nutrients whole and you can prepare food without actually be standing in the kitchen. It also keeps it warm until we are ready to eat it.
When ready to eat add ground flax, nuts and cacao nibs.
