My Afternoon Power Smoothie, great for a powerful kick in the afternoon or morning without the cafeine, sugar & milk. It is also great when you are trying to ditch the old coffee habit! This one is loaded with anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals and protein, it is low fat and plant based……all good!

These powerful ingredients will get you through any dip! Maca is a superfood which I haven’t used a lot in my recipes, so here is a short introduction to Maca …

Maca Powder

The Maca root is a real superfood, it is naturally rich in iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, iodine, lipides, protein, amino acids, carbs and fiber. It is an ideal power source for active people, it is great for the libido or when you need an extra boost of energie. Also great for 55+ and women in the menopause.

Maca has a natural sweet taste, little like chocolat/vanilla/butterscotch. Can be used in smoothies, puddings, raw cookies and energie bars.For the best results it is better to be used for three weeks and then one week off.

Mesquite Powder

Mesquite is a great natural sweetener from South America, great in smoothies, raw cookies and energy bars, espescially good with raw  cacao!

Mesquite powder is a superfood from Peru and it has been used for ages by the original inhabitants . Mesquite gives a creamy structure and a lovely caramel taste to smoothies, snacks, drinks, shakes, ice cream and desserts. Combines great with raw cacao and maca.

Mesquite powder is rich in protein, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc and lysine.

Ingredients,

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 1 Tbsp. cacao powder
  • 1 Tbsp. hemp seeds
  • 1 Tbsp. mesquite powder
  • 1/2 tsp to 1 Tbsp. maca powder, try it with less first
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla powder

Blend until froothie and smooth. You can also add a medjool date or a frozen banana.
