Lately I am so into making my own cleaning and self care stuff, ever since I started using essential oils. Today I want to share my DIY Yoga Mat Spray blend with you, in case you are loving yoga as much as I do. This DIY yoga mat spray is an easy and natural way to sanitize and deodorize your mat.

My current yoga mat is black so you don’t see stains as easily but it still regularly needs some cleaning. I always roll it up when done otherwise our dog thinks it’s his sleeping mat!
I have been using this DIY yoga mat cleaning spray and I love the results.

You need 1 cup of distilled water, 1/2 cup of witch hazel or white vinegar and 20 drops of essential oils of your choice. I like to use a mix of antibacterial oils like purification, thieves, peppermint or tea tree oil. Shake the bottle before each time you use it, spray it on, leave it for a few minutes and wipe it dry with a microfiber cloth.

You can also make a blend to use before your yoga practice depending on your mood or goal for the class. A mix of citrus oils like lemon, grapefruit and orange will give you energy and wake you up, great for an early morning flow. On the other hand lavender, frankincense and stress-away will relax you, may be wonderful for an evening class to help you chill out.

ps. Not all essential oils are created equal, the quality and pureness is very important especially when you diffuse, inhale or apply it to the skin. Click here for the how to of making chemical free dryer sheets
